Last rolling of PU 25 and L4S29th March 2006This week the last PU 25 and L4S profiles were rolled. The PU 25 will be replaced by the new PU 28 profile, which will soon be released. A few years ago, Arcelor started the development of a new PU range to fill the gap of section modulus between the main AU sections and to roll a section that behaves even better than existing PU's in case hard driving conditions are encountered. The 'reinforced shoulders' of the new PU range were designed to cope with these requirements. After the introduction of the PU 18 and the PU 22, a new profile, PU 28, will replace the existing PU 25. Thus PU25 is no longer available and as a consequence of this shift, the L4S has also been withdrawn from our rolling program. The section properties of the new PU 28 will be disclosed in the next future. As a hint, the section modulus will be around 2800 cm3/m. During the transition period the profiles AU 25 and AZ 25 can replace the PU 25. |
